Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson Hawks vs. Marshalltown Bobcats

The Jefferson Hawks will head out to face off against the Marshalltown Bobcats at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 3.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Jefferson duked it out withWahlert on Friday. Jefferson was beaten by Wahlert 77-47. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, Marshalltown took a blow against Ames on Friday, falling 60-30. The Bobcats have struggled against the Little Cyclones recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Marshalltown's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Jefferson beat Marshalltown 52-40 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jefferson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
