Softball Recap: Strathmore Takes a Loss

Strathmore lost against Corcoran back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Spartans fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 4-3. The Spartans' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Gracie Gillis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Mollie Gillis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple. Another player making a difference was Elisabeth Ceballos, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Strathmore's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Corcoran, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-10.

Strathmore didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-1 win against Granite Hills on the 24th. As for Corcoran, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-0 defeat against Woodlake on the 24th.
