Basketball Recap: Garrison Dean Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Corinth Holders

There's no place like home for South Garner, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 62-51 victory over the Corinth Holders Pirates on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Titans also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

South Garner got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Garrison Dean out in front who posted 16 points. What's more, Dean also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ekene Ogboko, who put up eight points in addition to 17 rebounds and three blocks.

South Garner smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corinth Holders only pulled down five offensive rebounds.

Corinth Holders lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zach Rankin, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylon Holder, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

South Garner's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-8. As for Corinth Holders, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

South Garner will host Southeast Raleigh at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Southeast Raleigh knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully South Garner likes a good challenge. As for Corinth Holders, they will venture away from home to face off against Willow Spring at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Willow Spring is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.1 points per game this season.
