Softball Recap: Cherokee Bluff Bears vs. Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cherokee Bluff had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes 4-3. This was a revenge contest for the Bears, as the team was forced to settle for a 2-0 defeat when these two played last Thursday.

Peyton Davis tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Audrey Graham was incredible, going 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Kaitlyn Herren was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Cherokee Bluff is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 20 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 26-7 record this season. As for Monroe Area, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 26-11.
