Basketball Game Preview: WISH Academy Owls vs. Animo Venice Pirates

WISH Academy hasn't had much luck against Animo Venice recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The WISH Academy Owls will be playing in front of their home fans against the Animo Venice Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Animo Venice will be up against a hot WISH Academy squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. WISH Academy really took it to Animo Pat Brown for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-30 win. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Owls had established a 23 point advantage.

WISH Academy's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nicholas Nakada, who posted 13 points. Nakada continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Tureaud, who had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Animo Venice over Central City Value in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Animo Venice blew Central City Value out of the water with an 80-47 final score. With the Pirates ahead 38-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Animo Venice pushed their record up to 10-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 38 points. As for WISH Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

WISH Academy suffered a grim 73-50 defeat to Animo Venice in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point WISH Academy was down 42-19.
