Basketball Recap: Lebanon Comes Up Short

If Lebanon was riding high fresh off their 67-16 takedown of Tazewell last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lebanon Pioneers took a 47-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Johnson County Longhorns on Thursday.

Johnson County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but MacKenzie McClain led the charge by going 5 for 12 on her way to 17 points along with five assists and three steals. McClain is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Thompson, who posted ten points.

Lebanon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Johnson County, they pushed their record up to 10-17 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Lebanon will square off against Chilhowie at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lebanon is facing Chilhowie at the right time seeing as Chilhowie is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Johnson County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-30 loss against Chuckey-Doak on the 31st.
