Recap: College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals vs. Dudley Panthers
After a string of three wins, the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 76-46 loss at the hands of Dudley. While losing is never fun, College Prep & Leadership Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while Dudley is ranked 149th).
Despite the defeat, College Prep & Leadership Academy saw an underclassman step up: Bryce Mckenzie scored 16 points. Mckenzie continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrie Pressley, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Dudley found their leader in underclassman Cortney "CJ" Jones, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Jones pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrew Rogers, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
College Prep & Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Dudley, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5.
College Prep & Leadership Academy will challenge Southeast Guilford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dudley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southern Guilford at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Guilford is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
