Baseball Recap: Menomonie Gets the Win

Menomonie won against Rice Lake on Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 5-1. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Bailey Casey made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hawkins Anderson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Charlie Mikesell, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Menomonie's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Rice Lake, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Menomonie will venture away from home to square off against Holmen at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rice Lake, they will head out to challenge Baldwin-Woodville at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blackhawks have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
