Baseball Recap: Youngker Wins Going Away Against Buckeye

Youngker won the last time they faced Buckeye and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Roughriders blew past the Hawks 11-2. Considering the Roughriders have won five contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Derrick Linley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Riley Carteno, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Xavier Maldonado also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Youngker hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buckeye struck out six times.

Youngker's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Buckeye, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Youngker will host Desert Edge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. We've got a battle between Hawks coming up. Buckeye's pitchers better be ready for this one: Rio Rico has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
