Baseball Recap: Schurr's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Schurr came into Tuesday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Mark Keppel Aztecs on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in March.

James Borbon made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Schurr's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-13 when he doesn't).

In other pitching news, Joey Amano looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Borbon wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Patrick Liggins, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Ivan Quintero, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Schurr's record is now 7-13. As for Mark Keppel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Schurr beat Mark Keppel by a score of 14-11 on Friday.
