Baseball Recap: Golden Find Success

Golden proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pueblo Central Wildcats 7-6. This was payback for the Demons, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Sawyer Brinkman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jaydon Stroup was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Leffert, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Golden hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo Central struck out eight times.

Golden has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pueblo Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4-1.

Golden wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 18-3 victory against Thomas Jefferson on the 9th. As for Pueblo Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-3 defeat against Air Academy on the 4th.
