Basketball Preview: Roy Royals vs. Clearfield Falcons
The Roy Royals will head out on the road to take on the Clearfield Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roy is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
Roy suffered their closest loss since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Bonneville by a score of 57-54.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Bronson Belnap, who scored 22 points along with six assists and six rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Corben Schuffenhauer was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, Clearfield posted their closest win since January 5th on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Woods Cross and snuck past 43-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Clearfield has posted against the Wildcats since December 30, 2015.
Roy now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Clearfield, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-13.
Roy was able to grind out a solid victory over the Falcons when the teams last played back in January, winning 74-64. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
