The Fowlerville Gladiators will head out to take on the Marshall Redhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fowlerville came out on top against Haslett on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Gladiators never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Gladiators not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024 (when they won 12-2).
Wyatt Soli made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Soli was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Perras, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Erik Helminen, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Marshall ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with an 11-8 win over Western. While the Redhawks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Marshall got a massive performance out of Max Gillum, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That double was Gillum's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Stealy, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Marshall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Marshall has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Fowlerville, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-5.
