Baseball Recap: Hazen Comes Up Short

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Hazen was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They fell just short of the Inglemoor Vikings by a score of 2-1. The game marked the Highlanders' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Sam Nicholson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hazen saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adriel Vazquez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Hazen has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Inglemoor, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hazen will take on Bellevue at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Highlanders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Inglemoor, they will welcome Juanita at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ravens have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
