Baseball Game Preview: Cordova Lancers vs. Woodland Wolves

The Cordova Lancers will face off against the Woodland Wolves at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Cordova has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Things were looking good for Cordova after they put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Bear River by a score of 9-8. The loss continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Bruins: they've now lost three in a row.

Levi Nyberg led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Nathaniel Jones was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last five matches, Woodland finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell 6-2 to Lincoln. The Wolves' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Woodland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cohen Dwyer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another was Joseph Cadotte, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Woodland's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Cordova, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cordova has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Woodland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
