Soccer Game Preview: Lake Highland Prep vs. Somerset Academy - Canyons

The Lake Highland Prep Highlanders will face off against the Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lake Highland Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Cardinal Gibbons a 4-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Highlanders as they're now sitting on four straight.

They hit Cardinal Gibbons with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Lael Hill (2), Lara Almeida, and Riley Bassin.

Meanwhile, Somerset Academy - Canyons entered their tilt with South Walton on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victor by a 5-1 margin over the Seahawks. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Seahawks are ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Somerset Academy - Canyons pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those seven games. As for Lake Highland Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.
