Basketball Recap: Nature Coast Tech Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Nature Coast Tech lost to Alonso back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Sharks walked away with a 49-36 win over the Ravens. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Ravens are ranked 648th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nature Coast Tech's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points over those games. As for Alonso, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-10.

Nature Coast Tech will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2026. As for Alonso, they and Dunnellon will face off at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday without much rest, having both just played.
