Basketball Recap: Hanks Knights vs. Eastwood Troopers
Hanks lost against Eastwood back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hanks Knights fell 49-37 to the Eastwood Troopers. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 935th, while the Troopers are ranked 205th).

Despite the loss, Hanks still got an impressive performance from Sebastian Meraz, who shot 4-for-5 from long range and dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. Meraz has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. Johnny Butterfield was another key player, putting up six points.
It was another big night for Devin Falk-Ramirez, who posted 19 points and four steals for Eastwood. Another player making a difference was GianCarlo Lomeli, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and five steals.
Hanks has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Eastwood, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
