Preview: Palma Chieftains vs. Hollister Haybalers
Palma is 7-2 against Hollister since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Palma Chieftains will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hollister Haybalers at 7:00 p.m. Palma is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
Palma put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Everett Alvarez with a sharp 41-20 win. The victory was just what Palma needed coming off of a 34-14 defeat in their prior match.
Eli Dukes had a dynamite game for Palma, rushing for 220 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Another player making a difference was Logan Saldate, who picked up 152 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Hollister came up short against Salinas on Friday and fell 21-12. Hollister has struggled against Salinas recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Palma's win bumped their season record to 6-4 while Hollister's defeat dropped theirs to 3-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Palma has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 194.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hollister struggles in that department as they've been even better at 200.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
