Basketball Recap: Halstead Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the Halstead Dragons were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 67-61 to the Liberal Redskins. While the Dragons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Redskins 35-25 in the first quarter.

Liberal found their leader in freshman Adrian Moreno-Gonzales, who went 8 of 12 en route to 21 points and seven boards. Eathan Hernandez was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Halstead now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Liberal, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9.

Halstead didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-58 win against Rose Hill on the 25th. Liberal has also already played their next match, a 59-41 defeat against Garden Plain on the 25th.
