Recap: Carroll Cougars vs. McCutcheon Mavericks
It was a good run, but the Carroll Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 56-49 to McCutcheon. Carroll was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as McCutcheon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Carroll still got an impressive performance from Alli Harness, who scored 22 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Harness is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games she's played. Emily Justice was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Carroll were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McCutcheon only racked up four assists.
Lillie Graves continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for McCutcheon, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kalea Washington, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 15-3. As for McCutcheon, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Carroll will take on Clinton Prairie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Clinton Prairie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for McCutcheon, they will head out on the road to take on Muncie Central at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Muncie Central comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
