Basketball Recap: Willowbrook Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kendall Medinger and Ayaani Gusman

Willowbrook was the 54-52 winner over Glenbard East when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Willowbrook Warriors took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glenbard East Rams on Saturday. The Warriors just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Despite the loss, Willowbrook had strong showings from Ayaani Gusman, who posted 21 points and six rebounds, and Kendall Medinger, who had 13 points. Gusman is becoming a predictor of Willowbrook's success: when she posts at least 20 points the team is 2-1 (and 3-18 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jada Langston, who earned eight points and seven boards.

Willowbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Glenbard East, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season.

Willowbrook wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-40 victory against Proviso East on the 4th. As for Glenbard East, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-49 loss against Wheaton North on the 3rd.
