Baseball Recap: Mishawaka Starts off Right with Win over Jimtown

Mishawaka had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Jimtown Jimmies by a score of 8-5 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cavemen in their matchups with the Jimmies: they've now won eight in a row.

Landon Johns looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kamdon Putz, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Braedyn Smith, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Mishawaka has already played their next game (against South Bend Adams), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Jimtown, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on South Central at 5:30 p.m. on the 14th.
