Basketball Game Preview: McDermitt Bulldogs vs. Eureka Vandals

McDermitt hasn't had much luck against Eureka recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The McDermitt Bulldogs will face off against the Eureka Vandals at 7:30 p.m. After both made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

McDermitt will head into Saturday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Carlin on Saturday. McDermitt blew past Carlin 58-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bulldogs have posted since December 14, 2024.

McDermitt got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shandon Camas out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. Camas is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Warrick Crutcher, who posted 12 points along with eight assists and six boards.

McDermitt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Eureka waltzed into their game on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Jaguars as they made off with a 46-20 win. The Vandals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season.

Eureka pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for McDermitt, their win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 7-7.

McDermitt came up short against Eureka in their previous meeting on January 3rd, falling 46-36. Can McDermitt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
