Softball Game Preview: North Pitt Panthers vs. West Craven Eagles

For the second straight game, North Pitt will face off against West Craven. The Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: North Pitt has struggled recently with nine defeats in a row, while West Craven will arrive with three straight wins.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for North Pitt's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 17-0 to West Craven, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

For West Craven's part, Riley Dixon made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Dixon was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, West Craven got a massive performance out of Izabella Sutton, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave Sutton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Morgan Jarman, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

West Craven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .536 or higher in three consecutive contests.

North Pitt's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for West Craven, their record is now 3-10.
