The Manville Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Whippany Park Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Manville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Manville is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Montgomery just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 5-2 to the Cougars.

Manville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Shimp, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Whippany Park hadn't done well against Hanover Park recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Wildcats won by a run and slipped past the Hornets 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 4th.

Whippany Park's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Manville, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Manville suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Whippany Park when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
