Basketball Game Preview: Hemphill Hornets vs. Chireno Owls

Hemphill hasn't had much luck against Chireno recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hemphill Hornets will take on the Chireno Owls at 5:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Hemphill was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to Shelbyville.

Meanwhile, Chireno came tearing into Friday's matchup with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Wolves 49-27. Given the Owls' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Wolves are ranked 591st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chireno pushed their record up to 27-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.4 points per game. As for Hemphill, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.

Hemphill was taken down by Chireno 64-26 in their previous matchup on January 3rd. Can Hemphill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
