Basketball Recap: Sugar Creek Charter Comes Up Short

Sugar Creek Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the SouthLake Christian Academy Eagles, falling 83-52. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 76-43 to the Eagles when the teams met back in November of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sugar Creek Charter's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaquise Giles, who posted 11 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Thomas, who shot 71% from the field on his way to 14 points.

Sugar Creek Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Sugar Creek Charter will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Garinger at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 91-47 win against Carolina International on the 11th.
