Softball Recap: Rosemount Find Success

Rosemount lost to Eagan back in April, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Irish had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 3-2.

Jorey Fry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kenzi Benson was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Rosemount pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Eagan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Rosemount and Eagan should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. The Irish will challenge Eastview at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (24 vs. 96). Meanwhile, Eagan (ranked 89th) will meet Shakopee (ranked 203rd) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
