Softball Game Preview: La Grange Leopards vs. Caldwell Hornets

For the second straight game, La Grange will face off against Caldwell. The Leopards will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. La Grange's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Caldwell's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

La Grange's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Caldwell with a sharp 7-0 victory. The game was the first time the Leopards have beaten the Hornets on their field since March 12, 2021.

Brooke Ulrich was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Ulrich was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

Ulrich wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Madi Adams, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Another was Melissa Gonzales, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

La Grange kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Caldwell only managed one hit.

Caldwell is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-11-1. As for La Grange, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
