Softball Recap: Dupont Manual Wins Going Away Against Fern Creek

The matchup between DuPont Manual and Fern Creek on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Crimsons blew past the Tigers 17-6. The Crimsons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.

Hailey Kincaid made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Bella Newell was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Bailey Fetcher was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

DuPont Manual kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fern Creek only managed nine hits.

DuPont Manual has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fern Creek, they dropped their record down to 15-18 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, DuPont Manual will host Shawnee at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fern Creek, they will take on Elizabethtown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
