Volleyball Game Preview: Willapa Valley Vikings vs. Wahkiakum Mules + How To Watch

The Willapa Valley Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Wahkiakum Mules at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Willapa Valley is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Taholah just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to the Chitwhins. Surprisingly, this marked the Vikings' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Willapa Valley couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Taholah a tough time in the second set. The final score came out to 25-23, 29-31, 25-20, 25-15.

Despite the loss, Willapa Valley had strong showings from Cassandra Sipp, who had 17 digs and two aces, and Lauren Matlock, who had 27 assists and five digs. Matlock is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

Meanwhile, Wahkiakum also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Pe Ell by a score of 3-1.

Wahkiakum's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-5. As for Willapa Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Willapa Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Wahkiakum when the teams last played back in September, winning 3-1. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mules turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
