Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Urbana

Urbana had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Governor Thomas Johnson Patriots with a sharp 14-1 victory. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Keigan Rupinta looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kayden Lipscomb and Dylan Dotta did most of the damage at the plate: Lipscomb went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Dotta went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Lipscomb has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Welch, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Urbana hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Urbana's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Governor Thomas Johnson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
