Basketball Recap: Iola Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Kansas City Christian School wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Iola, they should've done a better job of containing Cortland Carson. The Iola Mustangs walked away with a 65-53 win over the Kansas City Christian School Panthers on Thursday thanks in part to Carson, who went 10 for 25 on his way to 28 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Iola's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Beckmon, who posted 11 points and three steals. What's more, he also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in January.

The victory made it two in a row for Iola and bumps their season record up to 2-1. As for Kansas City Christian School, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Iola will take on Burlington in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kansas City Christian School and Heritage Christian Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 8:00 p.m. on December 20th. Heritage Christian Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Kansas City Christian School surely won't give up without a fight.
