Basketball Recap: Northridge Academy Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Northridge Academy won the last time they faced Vaughn, and Landon Lake did his part to make sure it happened again. The Northridge Academy Pumas secured a 65-60 W over the Vaughn White Tigers on Friday thanks in part to Lake, who went 6 for 10 to rack up 12 points and four steals. What's more, he also racked up three boards, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Isaac Alvarez, who posted eight points. Alvarez is also crushing it when it comes to field goal percentage: he's posted at least zero every time he's taken the court this season.

Vaughn lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ruben Herrera, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine steals. Siddiq Mumin was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Northridge Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-17 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points over those games. As for Vaughn, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-16.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northridge Academy beat Vaughn by a score of 77-51 on Monday.
