Basketball Recap: Owen Jurjavcic's Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Palestine over Valley Christian

East Palestine lost against Valley Christian back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The East Palestine Bulldogs lost to the Valley Christian Eagles at home by a 60-42 margin. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 653rd, while the Eagles are ranked 290th).

East Palestine lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Owen Jurjavcic, who posted four points along with eight assists and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Kyler Bourne, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and six rebounds.

East Palestine now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Valley Christian, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

East Palestine will face off against Southern at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. East Palestine is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season. As for Valley Christian, they will take on Medina Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Valley Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.
