Baseball Game Preview: Bay Path RVT Minutemen vs. Doherty Memorial Highlanders

The Bay Path RVT Minutemen will challenge the Doherty Memorial Highlanders at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bay Path RVT has three straight victories, Doherty Memorial has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Bay Path RVT's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Tantasqua Regional 1-0.

Dale Nussey made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

Nussey wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Max Lapriore, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Doherty Memorial lost 17-7 to Auburn on Friday.

Tommy Kursonis was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Yeduarlin Calderon-Morel was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Bay Path RVT's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Doherty Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Bay Path RVT's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Minutemen have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Doherty Memorial, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bay Path RVT continue to outrun the ball?
