Basketball Game Preview: Ashe County Huskies vs. South Caldwell Spartans

Ashe County hasn't had much luck against South Caldwell recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Ashe County Huskies will look to defend their home court against the South Caldwell Spartans at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Ashe County came up short against Freedom and fell 68-55. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 438th, while the Patriots are ranked 149th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Bryce Peters, who posted 17 points and five assists. The contest was his third in a row with at least 15 points. Ian Graybeal was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Meanwhile, South Caldwell strolled past Alexander Central with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 63-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Ashe County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for South Caldwell, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.
