Baseball Game Preview: Westbrook Wildcats vs. Forsan Buffaloes

Westbrook hasn't had much luck against Forsan recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Westbrook Wildcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Forsan Buffaloes at 12:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Westbrook's tournament run continued when they took on Eula on Saturday. Westbrook put the hurt on Eula with a sharp 12-3 win.

Jaxson Browne made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Westbrook got a big performance out of Shawn Salazar, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2.

While Forsan didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over Clarendon on Friday.

Forsan's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Westbrook, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Westbrook suffered a grim 21-4 defeat to Forsan when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Can Westbrook avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
