Volleyball Recap: Central Catholic Raiders vs. Manteca Buffaloes

Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Manteca Buffaloes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-7, 25-11.

Ronin Dragoo paced Central Catholic's offense, picking up six kills. Dragoo got some help from Walter Johnson and his six assists. Dragoo also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Colton Gonzalez, racking up two apiece.

Manteca found their leader in sophomore Alex Khizeran, who had 12 digs and four aces. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Khizeran. Robert Hevener also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Catholic is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Patterson at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Manteca, they will challenge Ripon Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ripon Christian will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Manteca surely won't give up without a fight.
