There's no place like home for St. Pius X, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They never let the Del Norte Knights get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Thursday. The Sartans not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 3, 2024.
Dominique Morett made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, St. Pius X got a massive performance out of Sophia Trujillo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Diamor Ibarra-Villegas, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
St. Pius X was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.
St. Pius X picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Del Norte, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Looking ahead, St. Pius X will head out on the road to challenge Atrisco Heritage Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Pius X is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season. Del Norte will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Rio Grande at 4:00 p.m. on March 27th.
