Baseball Game Preview: Gardner Wildcats vs. Narragansett Regional Warriors

Gardner hasn't had much luck against Narragansett Regional recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will face off against the Warriors at 3:30 p.m. Narragansett Regional took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Gardner, who comes in off a win.

Gardner took a 18-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bromfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Trojans on Wednesday. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Trojans on their field since May 18, 2017.

Meanwhile, Narragansett Regional was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Tahanto Regional.

Narragansett Regional saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Casavant, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Gardner couldn't quite finish off Narragansett Regional when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
