Basketball Recap: La Porte Bulldogs vs. Manvel Mavericks
The La Porte Bulldogs lost against the Manvel Mavericks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. La Porte took a 55-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mavericks. La Porte has struggled against the Mavericks recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Trent Callies and Phillip Ned certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Callies scored 18 points along with eight steals, while Ned scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Callies is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Pray, who scored five points.
La Porte struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
La Porte's loss dropped their record down to 19-13. As for Manvel, their victory bumped their record up to 12-16.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Ball the next time they take the court. Manvel will head out to face Ball at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while La Porte will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
