Basketball Recap: Watkins Mill Takes a Loss

Watkins Mill and Magruder squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Watkins Mill had to settle for second. They fell 78-66 to the Magruder Colonels. The Wolverines' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Magruder was led to victory by Zeke Dabbondanza and Wil Dabbondanza. Zeke shot 69% from the field to rack up 21 points and four steals, while Wil almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Magruder is undefeated when Zeke posts 20 or more points, but 9-10 otherwise. Jonah Wertlieb was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

Watkins Mill's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Magruder, their record now sits at 13-10.

Watkins Mill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Magruder, they will square off against Sherwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Magruder is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season.
