Baseball Recap: Cumberland Gap Find Success

While Cumberland Gap's win against Scott wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Cumberland Gap sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Scott on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won five in a row.

Tate Murphy was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cumberland Gap is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Murphy was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Hudson Harris was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

Cumberland Gap's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Scott, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Cumberland Gap will have a chance to go back-to-back against Scott: the pair will be back at it again later today.
