Recap: Natchitoches Central Chiefs vs. Parkway Panthers
The Natchitoches Central Chiefs''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 27-26 to Parkway. Natchitoches Central lost against Parkway in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 37-22 score last time.
Natchitoches Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Zion Thompson, who rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Camrin Davis, who picked up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Natchitoches Central's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Parkway, Captain Shreve, and Airline. As for Parkway, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Natchitoches Central will take on Haughton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Haughton is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Parkway, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Airline at 7:00 p.m. Airline has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 383 points over their last eight games.
