Recap: Dimmitt Bobcats vs. Slaton Tigers
The Dimmitt Bobcats were the 80-66 winner over the Slaton Tigers when they last played one another back in January of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. Dimmitt's tough 49-28 loss to Slaton on Thursday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Dimmitt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1325th, while Slaton is ranked 629th).
When it comes to explaining why Dimmitt lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tony Salazar. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Salazar. Another player making a difference was Mario Lopez, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds.
Dimmitt has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Slaton, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Dimmitt won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Borger at 12:00 p.m. on December 8th. Borger is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. Slaton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Vega at 6:00 a.m. on December 8th.
