Grayson, the No. 2 team in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25, was upset Friday on the road by Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.), 22-7.

The two teams couldn't have come into the game on more opposite notes. While Grayson entered at 2-0, fresh off a 35-3 dismantling of Central (Miami), Parkview came in on the heels of a 20-0 loss to Norcross (Ga.) last week.

Grayson  got the scoring underway early, when David McTier completed a 45-yard pass to Cory Schaeffer for a touchdown three minutes into the game. Unfortunately for the high-powered Grayson offense, they were the last points Parkview would allow.

Parkview got on the board with a minute left in the first quarter on a rushing touchdown but the extra point was missed, and Grayson kept the 7-6 lead.

The score remained 7-6 until two minutes left in the third quarter, when the scoring resumed on a Parkview touchdown pass. The two-point conversion attempt was failed, but the Panthers took the 12-7 lead into the fourth quarter.

Parkview added a field goal by Tyler Stephenson with eight minutes left to increase its lead to 15-7, and Grayson took over on their own 20-yard line in a one-possession game.

The stingy Panther defense did not relent, however, continuing to stop a frustrated Rams offense. With Grayson attempting to march downfield, Parkview's Justis Rosser snatched the ball out of the Grayson runner's hands, giving the ball back to the Panthers.

A Chris Carson touchdown run with four minutes to go put the game out of reach, and Parkview completed the 22-7 upset.

Parkview goes to 2-1 with the win, while Grayson falls to 2-1.
