Recap: Mountainside Wolves vs. Highland Prep Honey Badgers

The Mountainside Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Highland Prep, falling 69-16. Mountainside has not had much luck with Highland Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Highland Prep found their leader in underclassman Tarrell Green, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. The game was Green's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kohen Hill, who scored nine points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Mountainside bumped their record down to 1-3 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.8 points per game. As for Highland Prep, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Mountainside will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Phoenix Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Highland Prep will be home for the holidays to greet Tonopah Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tonopah Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 297th, while Highland Prep is ranked 134th).
