Academy of Richmond County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 72-42 win over Hephzibah. That 30 points margin sets a new team best for Academy of Richmond County this season.
NaCja Johnson was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Butler, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Morgan County strolled past Harlem with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 49-31. Given Morgan County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Harlem is ranked 441st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Kymora Smith, who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Miracle Ward was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
The victory got Academy of Richmond County back to even at 8-8. As for Morgan County, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.
Tuesday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Johnson and Jaden Young. Johnson has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 17.1 points. For her part, Young has averaged 11.4 points, 2 steals, and 5.8 rebounds.
